Jewelry box given by Carl Zoeller to his daughter Lisette during his internment at Holdsworthy. A note accompdanied the box explaining it was made from cedar from a gun carriage captured during the Boer War, and was made by the carpenter from the ‘Emden’, who was now a prisoner of war. Zoeller’s note, dated 5 May 1917, concluded, “I present this little box to my dear girl Lisette – in hope of our speedy reunion”. (H48842)
